Bridging the Gap for a Better Community
STRATEGIC PLAN
The Village Group five year work plan is an aggressive plan of action for both the leadership and volunteers of the group. The plan is meant to be a dynamic document able to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented to rural Plantersville and the partnership during the five years.

What is our Mission?
Our mission is to serve as a conduit for the people, working to make positive changes in our community that will improve the quality of life for our residents. We seek to develop and sustain a meaningful partnership with individuals, public agencies and organizations to promote and achieve
  • Youth Development
  • Literacy Enrichment
  • Recreation Enhancements
  • Community Improvements
What are our Goals?
The Village Group provides a stepping stone for our youth to move to a brighter future. Our belief is that if you take care of your youth, in the future they will give back to the community. We encourage parents to be role models for their children and allows children to make smart decisions.

We recognize and thank our volunteers

2007 ANNUAL REPORT
Below is a list of activities and programs that were initiated and completed by The Village Group.
Through your continued support we were successful in meeting our strategic goals for fiscal year 2007.
We look forward to another enjoyable and blessed year for 2008.
  • Back to School Rally, attended by parents, students, and school officials, provided each participating student supplies such as a book bag, pencils, notebooks, a novel and journal.
  • Literacy Enrichment Program, funded through the IP Foundation, focused primarily on fifth grade students from Plantersville Elementary School; however some of our initiatives benefited the entire school population.
  • Third Annual Plantersville Community Heritage Festival provided programs and services to improve the community awareness with an emphasis on youth development.
  • Educational Enrichment Tour sponsored the Penn Center Heritage Days Celebration Enrichment Tour to St Helena Island, Beaufort, SC.
  • TheVillageGroup.org Web Site was launched after several months of working with our webmaster.
  • Toys for Tots in partnership with the US Marine Corps and coordinated with local community churches we secured bicycles, toys, games and other gifts for our youth during this Christmas Season.
  • 2007 Bereavement Committee, certainly one committee we rather not have, but it has proven to be an acceptable practice in our community.
  • 2007 City of Georgetown and St Paul-Plantersville Christmas Parades where in our inaugural year of parade participation the City of Georgetown awarded us the Christmas Spirit Award for our gutsy participation.
  • Volunteer Appreciation Pre-Holiday Dinner and Social was an occasion designed to give our volunteers a moment to let their hair down.
Again, thank you for your continued support and the opportunity to serve our community.
